Sharon M. Schweitzer earned her undergraduate degree from the Ohio State University and she completed an international pre-law study program at the University of Oxford. Ms. Schweitzer attended South Texas College of Law on an Advocacy Scholarship and received her J.D. in 1989. She is member of the Order of the Barristers.
Ms. Schweitzer is board certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR). Ms Schweitzer is also a Trained Mediator, and certified as an International Protocol and Business Etiquette Consultant and a Children's Etiquette Consultant by the Protocol School of Washington. Ms. Schweitzer began her legal career with a small Austin law firm. Seeking trial experience, she then served four years as an Assistant Attorney General. One of her most notable accomplishments during her tenure was the successful resolution of the Texas Adopt-a-Highway litigation against the Ku Klux Klan. Ms. Schweitzer served as Legal Counsel for Employee Relations and ADA Coordinator for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Ms. Schweitzer was also an attorney with a large Dallas based law firm, serving as co-editor of the firm's employment law newsletter and e-mail alert. Currently, Ms. Schweitzer is the founder and President of the Protocol & Etiquette Academy, LLC, an international consulting company based in Austin, Texas.
Ms. Schweitzer has authored articles and provided training in the US and abroad for numerous organizations, including Charles University in Prague, the International Association of Corporation Administrators, the State Bar of Texas, and University of Texas.
Ms. Schweitzer currently serves on the Chairman's Advisory Council of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, the President's Advisory Board of The Ohio State University, and the Texas Women Lawyer's Board of Directors. She is the past Chair of the Technology Law; and Labor and Employment Law Sections of the Austin Bar Association. Sharon is a Lifetime Fellow of the Austin Bar Association and the Texas Bar Foundation. She is admitted to practice before the US District Court for the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern Districts of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is also a graduate of Leadership Austin.
